Palm crosses distributed to the congregation at the end of the service

Please Note: Holy Unction will be administered to the faithful at the conclusion of the Service.

April
1- Holy Thursday

  • 7:00 Á̀ Vesperal Liturgy of Saint Basil Commemorating the Institution of the Holy Eucharist
  • 6:30 PM Service of the Twelve Gospels of the Passion and Crucifixion of our Lord and procession of the Estauromenon

April 2- Holy Friday

  • 8:00 AM Preparation of flowers for the Epitaphio
  • 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM Please join us in the morning as we prepare all the flowers needed to decorate the Epitaphio and decorate Saint George for the afternoon and Evening Service. All work must be completed no later than 2:00 p.m. Contact: Sasha Vithoulkas (562) 869-3533
  • 9:00-10:30AM Service of the Royal Hours
  • 3:00 PM Vespers of the Descent from the Cross- Apokathelosis
  • 7:00 PM Service of the Epitaphios Thrinos- The Lamentations

Mirofores and Epitaphio bearers report to the Church Narthex for instructions.

April
3- Holy Saturday

  • 9:00 AM Vesperal Liturgy of Saint Basil known as the “First Anastasi”

This is perhaps the most beautiful of all the services of Holy Week. You must be present in the Church no later than 9:45 to capture the full effect and majesty of this service. Don’t forget your bells.

April
4- GREAT AND HOLY PASCHA

  • Saturday Evening (April 3)
  • 11:00 PM Canon of the Resurrection
  • 11:45 PM “Come Receive the Light”- Service of the Resurrection ánd Divine Liturgy
  • 1:30 AM Magiritsa and Avgolemono Soup following the Service in our Parish Hall prepared by Soula Politis.

Sunday Morning (April 4)

  • 11:00 AM “Come Receive the Light” - Vespers of Agape and St George
